CONCLUSION

The newly integrated system delivers a fast and accurate process of transferring, anonymizing, and storing DICOM images from one DICOM node to another while increasing stability. The ability to run different anonymization processes in parallel pipelines with their own dedicated DICOM nodes is a major advantage in a clinical research setting.

BACKGROUND

In this work, we present the integration of the anonymization process of the RSNA CTP into an existing webbased DICOM distribution system. The integrated system is expected to provide a faster process in an easy setup environment while still being able to maintain the security and stability of the existing system.

EVALUATION

The existing webbased DICOM distribution system initiates and registers the transfers of DICOM data from one DICOM node to another. Adapted RSNA CTP was integrated to receive, anonymize, and store DICOM images into the appropriate nodes under the given task based on the configuration system allowing multiple pipelines with their own anonymization process to run in parallel. The anonymization task is based on the lookup table generated from the external study information system.

DISCUSSION

Currently, five pipelines with each different tasks were set up in the CTP server with a 3.6 GHz/800 MHz – 1 MB L2 cache processor and 2 GB PC2 - 3200R 400 MHz DDR2 memory. Average of four CT images or eight MR images per second were transferred, processed, and saved from the source PACS to the destination nodes through a single pipeline.
