Embolization for Hemoptysis

Multisession Courses

Presented on December 2, 2010
Presented as part of VI51: Interventional Radiology Series: Embolization Therapy

Participants

Frederick Saul Keller MD, Presenter: Nothing to Disclose

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1) Preprocedure workup of hemoptysis: role of bronchoscopy, CTA, bronchial intubation. 2) Learn the pathophysiology of hemoptysis: bronchial arteries, systemic nonbronchial collateral arteries, pulmonary arteries. 3) The relative frequency of bronchial artery versus pulmonary artery contribution to hemoptysis. 4) Discuss the anatomy of the bronchial arteries. 5) Appreciate the contribution of nonbronchial systemic collaterals. 6) Discuss various embolic materials for bronchial artery embolization. 7) View typical cases of bronchial embolization and nonbronchial systemic collateral embolization. 8) View typical cases of embolization of pulmonary artery lesions that are responsible for hemoptysis. 9) Discuss endovascular treatment of unusual causes of hemoptysis.
