PURPOSE/AIM

1. To review the clinical indications of abdominal MR imaging during pregnancy. 2. To describe the MR findings of various maternal diseases involving the abdomen and pelvis. 3. To discuss the MR safety concerns for pregnant patients and review the MR protocols used for maternal imaging

SUMMARY

1. MR imaging can provide useful information allowing accurate diagnosis of various maternal diseases in pregnant patients without exposing the fetus to ionizing radiation. 2. In addition to acute diseases, MR imaging can also be used as a problem solving tool for characterization of adnexal masses, evaluation of vascular diseases, staging and follow-up of malignancies during pregnancy.
