1) Describe the history of our understanding of the role of family history in the risk of breast cancer. 2) Distinguish between family histories that are, and are not, suggestive of the presence of an inherited mutation on BRCA1 or BRCA2. 3) Distinguish between relative risk vs. absolute risk associated with different patterns of family history in first and second degree relatives. 4) Describe current cancer screening guidelines for women at significantly elevated risk for breast cancer due to their family history. 5) Identify internet sources for risk-estimation software to help estimate absolute breast cancer risk and the probability of mutation carrier status based on family history.
