Learn the role of Doppler extremity venous US in the management of venous thrombosis.
Describe the proper technique for performing an extremity Doppler venous US study.
Learn how to analyze the images including the technical parameters.
Learn the normal findings, the assessment of thrombosis (acute, subacute and chronic) and diagnostic pitfalls.
We have developed an interactive tutorial on extremity venous Doppler US which includes: (1) clinical and anatomical facts; (2) US simulator; (3) findings in normal veins; (4) Analysis of images, including technical parameters; (5) Pathologic cases (acute, subacute and chronic thrombosis); (6) Multiple choice test. The program was designed using Flash ©(Adobe) and all the sections are graphically explained with interactive drawings so the user takes an active role in the learning
Ultrasound (US) provides a fast, noninvasive, and inexpensive technique for vascular diagnosis. Evaluation for venous thromboembolic disease is the most common reason that clinicians choose duplex US to evaluate the extremity veins. The quality of the US examination relies on the expertise of the examiner, so it is important to follow a systematic approach and to know the different US findings. Folowing this interactive tutorial, the user will learn when and how to perform a venous Doppler US.
