LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Describe why screening is useful, what is a good screening test, the indications for a screening test, the alternatives for a screening test and the controversies in screening; and identify costs, and reimbursements and identify the competing technologies and access the risk and accuracy 2. Describe mammography screening, the risks and benefits. 3. Describe chest screening for lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, and calcium scoring; and discuss if chest screening reduces mortality, does more harm than good, and increase the medical costs incurred. 4. Describe virtual colonoscopy, the accuracy, the risks and the benefits; and describe the indications for virtual colonoscopy.
