LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1) Recognize common patterns of superficial venous insufficiency. 2) Identify duplex ultrasound criteria for abnormal, incompetent superficial veins. 3) List indications and relative contraindications of treatments available for superficial venous insufficiency. 4) Understand basic principles and techniques of compression sclerotherapy for varicose and spider veins. 5) Become familiar with key steps involved in ambulatory phlebectomy. 6) Correctly perform endovenous laser and/or radiofrequency ablation procedures. 7) Cite expected success rates of endovenous ablation. 8) Recognize potential complications of chronic venous insufficiency and the treatments.
