TEACHING POINTS

o Describe the technique and normal appearance for breast implants in magnetic resonance imaging. o Learn the indications to evaluate implant complications with contrast-based breast MRI. o Review the common and uncommon complications in breast implants using case-base examples. o Recognize common and uncommon complications in breast augmentation associated with biopolymer injections. o Learn the current state for cancer detection following breast augmentation.

o Familiarity with the technique and normal appearance for breast implants in magnetic resonance imaging. o Breast MRI implant complications such as contracture, peri-implant fluid, intracapsular and extracapsular ruptures, contour abnormalities and pitfalls (gel bleed) are described. o Discuss the differential diagnosis of implant complications including ALCL. o Describe complications of breast augmentation associated with biopolymer injections. o Describe the role of breast MRI in cancer detection following breast augmentation.
