Education Exhibits

Presented in 2014

Participants

Harutyun Haroyan MD, Abstract Co-Author: Nothing to Disclose
Daniel Thomas Ginat MD, Presenter: Nothing to Disclose

TEACHING POINTS

1. Understanding of sequence of events leading to development of Pierre-Robin sequence and associated middle ear abnormalities based on discussion of embryology of facial and middle ear development. 2. Learning about range of middle ear abnormalities encountered in Pierre-Robin sequence. 3. Discussion of clinical correlation of observed imaging findings and brief discussion of severity and observed frequency of middle ear abnormalities.

TABLE OF CONTENTS/OUTLINE

Brief review of facial and middle ear embryology. Imaging of classic triad in Pierre-Robin sequence: - micrognathia-rethrognatia, - glossoptosis - Cleft palate. Imaging of commonly occurring middle ear abnormalities in Pierre-Robin sequence: - Ottitis media - Auricular anomalies - Artesia of external auditory canal - Dysplastic/aplastic changes of the ossicles - Aplasia of semicircular canals - Large vestibular aqueduct - Dehiscence of fallopian tube. Correlation of middle ear abnormalities with other manifestation of Pierre-Robin syndrome
