1. Quantitative imaging features, namely the magnitude of enhancement on multiphasic MDCT, can assist in discriminating the most common subtypes of renal cell carcinoma (clear cell, papillary, and chromophobe) and oncocytoma, a benign mimic of RCC.
2. Qualitative imaging features, such as pattern of enhancement, neovascularity, calcification, and contour, can also assist in discriminating clear cell RCC, papillary RCC, chromophobe RCC, and oncocytoma.
3. Because clear cell RCC, papillary RCC, chromophobe RCC, and oncocytoma have differing prognoses, a non-invasive means of discriminating between these entities can be of great clinical value and can thus guide further management.
