1. Provide an overview of common gynecological causes of acute pelvic pain in women of reproductive age. 2. Develop an approach to imaging women with acute pelvic pain during their reproductive years. 3. Review imaging features of common gynecological causes of acute pelvic pain in women of reproductive age.  

A. Clinical significance 1. Acute pelvic pain is a common complaint in women of reproductive age presenting to the emergency department. 2. Misdiagnosis can lead to complications from treatment delay. 3. Imaging is important as multiple etiologies can present with overlapping symptoms. B. Determine if acute pelvic pain in women of reproductive age is gynecological in origin. 1. Clinical presentation 2. Physical examination 3. Laboratory studies C. Develop an approach to imaging acute pelvic pain in women of reproductive age. 1. Pregnancy status based on B-HCG 2. Modality: US, CT, MRI D. Review the characteristic imaging features, clinical presentation, physical examination findings, laboratory values and key points of common gynecological causes of acute pelvic pain in women of reproductive age. 1. Ectopic pregnancy 2. Pelvic inflammatory disease 3. Ovarian cysts 4. Endometrioma 5. Adnexal torsion 6. Torsion of a pedunculated fibroid 7. Fibroid degeneration 8. Ovarian vein thrombosis
