TEACHING POINTS

Male breast disease is uncommon and unusual cases create particular imaging and diagnostic challenges for the radiologist. We present 10 interesting male breast cases (5 benign and 5 malignant), teach associated radiologic findings, provide pathologic correlation and address appropriate management based on available literature. In this context we discuss techniques for imaging the male breast and review the differential diagnosis for benign and malignant male breast disease. Specific diagnoses taught include: invasive lobular carcinoma, mastitis with delayed malignancy diagnosis, axillary basaloid metaplastic breast carcinoma with basal cell carcinoma of the nipple, chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma, prostate cancer metastasis, hemangioma, epidermal inclusion cyst, gynecomastia in a transgender patient, fat necrosis and a pilomatricoma.
