1. To identify the most common imaging findings of infectious liver diseases including bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal infections.
2. To review the key imaging and clinical features that may be useful in narrowing the differential diagnosis of infectious liver diseases.
3. To recognize potential pitfalls in image interpretation of liver infections.
1. Introduction
2. Imaging findings of infectious liver diseases at US, CT and MR, with emphasis on key imaging and clinical features that help narrow the differential diagnosis. a) Bacterial infections (including pyogenic abscess, tuberculosis, bartonella, others). b) Viral infections (hepatitis viruses, herpes hepatitis, HIV, CMV). c) Parasitic infections (amebic abscess, echinococcosis, fasciolasis, schistosomiasis). d) Fungal infections (aspergillus, candida, histoplasmosis).
3. Potential pitfalls in image interpretation.
4. Conclusions.
