TEACHING POINTS

1. To illustrate the imaging characteristics of normal versus torn ligamentum teres on MR hip arthography via a case based approach.   2. To provide the learner with a background on the clinical significance and current clinical approach related to ligamentum teres injuries.

TABLE OF CONTENTS/OUTLINE

- Normal MRI anatomy of the ligamentum teres on hip arthography.  - Discussion of the function of the ligamentum teres and clinical implications when injured. -Case based MRI examples of normal and partially/fully torn ligamentum teres with confirmation via hip arthroscopy. -Discussion of potential imaging criteria for diagnosing tears. -Future directions of imaging and summary.
