PURPOSE/AIM:
1. Present a representative spectrum of incidental cardiovascular findings that are increasingly demonstrated on non-cardiac computed tomography.
2. Discuss potential/artifactual mimics of true pathology that can lead to unnecessary workup.
3. Present some practical tips for differentiating true cardiac pathology, and discuss appropriate “next steps” for some of the more common findings.
CONTENT ORGANIZATION
-Highlight the prevalence of cardiovascular disease, and importance.
-Review examples of incidental cardiovascular findings on non-gated computed tomography and contrast with artifacts which may simulate disease, and suggest approaches for further workup.
