The teaching points of this exhibit are:
To explain the normal anatomy of the inguino-femoral region (groin) and understand the anatomical layers from superficial to deep where groin pathology may occur
To review a variety of non-hernia related groin pathology that a Musculoskeletal Radiologist may encounter, illustrating their typical location and imaging characteristics
Table of contents/ outline –
Introduction
Normal anatomy – A review of the normal anatomy of the groin using MRI and correlating each anatomical layer with a schematic representation
Case mix - An illustration of non-hernia related groin pathology using the radiological modalities of plain film, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Summary – To conclude with the importance of understanding groin anatomy and realizing the variety of pathological findings a Musculoskeletal Radiologist may encounter once a hernia has been excluded
