PURPOSE/AIM

Learning objectives - 1. To describe the various pathological correlates of Hansen's Disease (Leprosy) and its conventional MRI and MR Neurography findings. 2. To highlight the role of Diffusion MR Neurography using DWIBS technique and to elucidate various key features of Hansen's Disease. 3. To share tips and tricks to differentiate Hansen's Disease (Leprosy) from common and uncommon Mono / Polyneuropathies EMNG, MRN with Radiopathological correlation.

CONTENT ORGANIZATION

1. The description of neuropathological correlates of Hansen's Disease with pathological basis of the MR findings is illustrated with examples with EMNG correlation. 2. The pattern recognition approach used in detection of the key findings and the following morphological biomarkers A - Focal or diffuse thickening of the nerve. B - Nerve edema. C - Loss of normal fascicular architecture. D - Perineural fat stranding. E - Intraneural or juxta neural abscesses. F - Denervation edema and atrophy and fatty degeneration of the target muscles. 3. Pearls and pitfalls in differential diagnosis are discussed with clinically examples.

SUMMARY

1. This exibit familiarizes the viewer typical and atypical MR Neurographic appearances of Hansen's Disease (Leprosy ) in the current neuroimaging practice and shares the tips and tricks in differential diagnosis.
