It can be difficult for the resident or general radiologist to form a concise differential diagnosis in musculoskeletal imaging given the broad range of pathologies and their frequently overlapping findings. A readily assessable tool is desired that generates a concise differential diagnosis based on imaging findings, clinical and patient data.

An expandable database containing most musculoskeletal pathologies and their respective imaging characteristics, epidemiologic data, and pertinent clinical information was created and categorized in a systematic manner. Users enter observed imaging findings, sub categorized by modality, simple patient and clinical information, if available, and the web based program generates a concise list of the most likely diagnoses with detailed information about the specific entities.

This readily assessable, web-based tool will assist residents and general radiologists in developing an expert differential diagnosis in musculoskeletal imaging based on imaging findings. This program can serve as both an interpretation tool in clinical practice as well as a learning tool for the radiologist in training.
