Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Pediatric pulmonary TB represents a separate spectrum with great epidemiological significance as they usually represent primary TB. The purpose of this exhibit is to discuss the pathophysiology of pediatric pulmonary TB and demonstrate the imaging spectrum of mediastinal, parenchymal and pleural TB on conventional imaging and CT.
1. Pathophysiology of pediatric pulmonary TB
2. Complete imaging spectrum of pediatric pulmonary TB, including both primary and post-primary parenchymal TB, mediastinal TB and pleural disease on conventional imaging
3. Imaging spectrum of pediatric pulmonary TB on CT studies
4. Imaging of various atypical cases and complications
5. Role of radiology in follow-up of patients after treatment
After completion of this educational exhibit, one would have learnt:
1. Pathology of pediatric pulmonary TB
2. Complete imaging spectrum of pediatric pulmonary TB on conventional imaging
