1. To provide a comprehensive and practical overview of common male and female urethral and periurethral lesions for the practicing radiologist.
2. Typical locations, characteristic features and differential diagnosis of lesions.
3. Robust US, CT, and MRI imaging including small FOV high resolution MR imaging, 3D ultrasound and appropriate use of endovaginal/endorectal coils.
1. Roadmap and relevant anatomy of the male and female urethral and periurethral region and an algorithmic approach to interpretation of lesions in this area.
2. Review of technical parameters for imaging with US and MRI. (phased-array coils, endovaginal coils and common imaging sequences used for pelvic MRI at both 1.5T and 3T field strengths)
3. Classify urethral & periurethral lesions by location, including diverticula, Skene’s Duct cyst, vaginal cysts, periurethral leiomyoma, neurofibromas, and endometriosis.
4. Focused discussion of urethral carcinoma and relevant imaging features.
5. Postsurgical entities including periurethral bulking agents and slings.
1. The practicing radiologist will gain an in-depth algorithmic understanding of common and unusual urethral and periurethral lesions in men and women on US, CT and MR Imaging as well as post-surgical changes following female stress incontinence procedures.
