PURPOSE/AIM

1) Evaluate the changes in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) insertions 2) Stabilish imaging features of hypersolicitation or inflammatory processes of the anterior cruciate ligament insertions. 3) Describe possible imaging features of the so called entheso-synovial complex of ACL insertions.

CONTENT ORGANIZATION

Definition of ACL anatomy Role of ACL as stabilizer of the knee ACL anatomy on MRI Mechanism/ types of injury Review of ACL enthesopathy cases Stablish possible associations with internal derangments of the knee

SUMMARY

The major teaching points of this exhibit are: 1. The ACL insertions are caracterized as entheso-synovial complex. 2. ACL injuries frequently occur with insertions imaging alterations. 3. Look for ACL insertions injuries can prevent high grade or full-thickness ruptures and joint instability. 4. Primary ACL insertions injures can be initial manifestations of inflamatory internal joint diseases. 5. Inflamatory and degenerative changes in ACL insertions are related and cohexist.
