PURPOSE/AIM

Despite the imaging techniques have improved significantly, there has been no single modality that is able to satisfy all aspects of clinical needs. Currently multimodality approach has been advocated to maximize the ability of the imaging. While all available modalities could be used in all referred patients, there is no consensus in acquisition or in interpretation of the functional MR images, particularly of the quantitative values. Understanding the ability of each scanner and limitations of each new modality, particularly in quantitation, is extremely important to optimize and tailor the techniques to meet the specific clinical needs by providing the most useful and unbiased information. The purpose of the exhibit is to present an imaging algorithm to assist the radiologists in tailoring and optimizing the MRI techniques accordingly to clinical needs and scanner.

CONTENT ORGANIZATION

1. Present clinical algorithm in treatment decision making 2. Present the clinically relevant imaging algorithm 3. Present limitations of each imaging techniques

SUMMARY

While multimodality approach is encouraged in local staging of the prostate cancer patients, in the absence of a single modality satisfying the clinical needs fully, tailoring the imaging technique accordingly to the ability of each scanner and the clinical needs may provide the most useful information.
