1. To study and review the pathologies of ring enhancing lesions in contrast enhanced CT and MRI
2. To study mechanism of ring enhancement and radiological characteristics of ring enhancing lesions with histopathological corelation
Patients undergoing contrast enhanced CT and MRI study in Care Hospitals Hyderabad were included in this study. We came across pathologies like granulomas ( tuberculomas and cysticercosis) , Abscess, Subacute infarcts, Primary brain tumors, Metastasis, Resolving hematoma, Thrombosed AV malformation, Multiple sclerosis , Primary CNS lymphoma in AIDS ,Radiation necrosis and postoperative changes. Histopathological correlation was obtained to correlate with radiological findings.
Ring enhancing lesions in CT and MRI of the brain can be caused by different pathological conditions. With this large list of conditions contributing to intracranial ring enhancing lesions one has to assess the patient clinically as well as distinguish all ring lesions using contrast enhanced CT and MRI.
This exhibit teaches different causes and radiological characteristic of various ring enhancing lesions and there differentiation from each other.
