The goal of this exhibit is to provide a review of the radiologic diagnosis and protocol of coccydynia, an extremely painful but relatively unexplored condition, using multiple cases.

CONTENT ORGANIZATION

-Definition/Etiology -Coccygeal Anatomy and Pathology -Review of Intercoccygeal angle -Review of studies defining radiologic role in diagnosis of coccydynia -Dynamic Imaging: Definition and technique -7 Plainfilm cases -Treatment and impact of radiologic diagnosis on treatment -Future role of radiology

SUMMARY

We review the radiologic role of diagnosis in coccydynia with a highlight on dynamic films, coned down views of the coccyx taken while patient is standing and then sitting. Multiple teaching cases demonstrating the increased sensitivity of dynamic films in revealing coccygeal pathology are shown. Learning and reviewing the imaging protocol and findings of coccydynia is critical as different treatments have been shown to be better for various underlying pathology.
