To review the IASLC lymph node map used in the 7th edition of the TNM classification of lung cancer
To highlight the differences between the IASLC and ATS lymph node maps
To discuss the size criteria and pitfalls for each lymph node station
To review the drainage pattern of thoracic lymph nodes
The anatomic definitions of the lymph node stations in the IASLC lymph node map and its differences from the ATS map will be reviewed and illustrated using the following formats:
Tables
Medical illustrations
Color coded CT images
Thoracic lymph node drainage patterns
Mediastinal lymph nodes
Pulmonary lymph nodes
Chest wall lymph nodes
Discussion of size criteria and pitfalls for each lymph node station
Self-assessment quiz
Viewers of this exhibit will learn to:
Accurately define and identify thoracic lymph nodes as they are characterized in the new IASLC lymph node map used in the seventh edition of the TNM classification for lung cancer, and recognize its distinction from the ATS lymph node map
Recognize size criteria and pitfalls associated with each lymph node station
Understand thoracic lymph node drainage pattern as they pertain to lung cancer
