The purpose of this exhibit is :
To review the clinical setting of the chondromalacia of the proximal pole of the hamate
To review the imaging diagnosis of this condition.
To demonstrate the imaging findings of this condition in diferents modalities including simple xray, CT, CT arthography and MR imaging.
Relationship between hamate chondromalcia and ulnar side wrist pain
Anatomy and anatomic variant related to hamate chondromalcia
Review of imaging findings in simple X ray, MDCT, MDCT arthrography, MR imaging and MR arthrography of the hamate chondromalacia
Sample cases
Sumary
The major teaching points of this exhibit are:
Chondromalacia of the proximal pole of the hamate is a cause of the ulnar side pain of the wrist
Type II lunate is related to hamate chondromalacia
Simple X-ray and CT can demonstrate secondary signs in subchondral bone of proximal hamate in this pathologic condition
MR imaging and MDCT arthrography are able to evaluate directly the cartilage loss in this condition
