LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1) Illustrate the cross-sectional imaging findings of basic pediatric cardiovascular diseases. 2) Review common surgical procedures for correction or palliation of cardiovascular diseases. 3) Discuss pertinent CT and MRI imaging techniques for evaluation of basic cardiovascular diseases.

ABSTRACT

CT and MRI are utilized for non-invasive assessment of congenital and acquired cardiovascular diseases in children. Detailed knowledge of each cardiovascular disease entity, its characteristic pre-operative imaging appearance, and potential post-operative complications is essential for performing a complete imaging examination. This case-based presentation will review various pediatric cardiovascular disease entities and associated imaging appearances, surgical procedures, and appropriate imaging techniques.
