LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1) Become familiar with the following aspects of the congenital hearing loss: imaging approach, relevant anatomy, classification system for inner ear anomalies, which imaging abnormlities suggest a specific syndrome or genetic abnormality, clinical impact of various imaging findings.

ABSTRACT

This presentation will briefly outline the imaging features of congenital hearing loss. The anatomy of the normal inner ear and radiological classification of inner ear malformations will be described and illustrated. The inner ear findings that have specific syndromic/genetic associations (e.g. Pendred syndrome, enlarged vestibular aqueduct syndrome and CHARGE syndrome) will be highlighted. The clinical relevance of the radiological findings will also be discussed
