In 2009 the revised RECIST (Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours) guidelines (version 1.1) were published by the RECIST Working Group. Consistency in imaging and measurements are even more challenging.
The purpose of the poster will be to increase familiarity with these guidelines and highlight the important changes from RECIST 1.0.
Key revisions in RECIST 1.1 guidelines include:
1. Reduction in number of target lesions
2. Assessment of pathological lymph nodes
3. Confirmation of response
4. Clarification of disease progression
5. Clarification of unequivocal progression of non-target lesions
6. Inclusion of FDG-PET scan in the detection of new lesions
7. Overall response
8. Confirmatory measurement/duration of response
9. Progression-free survival
10. Reporting of response results
11. Imaging appendix
Cancer trials are increasingly complex and consequently a thorough understanding of the revised RECIST 1.1 guidelines are required by those involved in Oncological imaging.
After this exhibit, the reviewer should be significantly more informed and confident in the use of the revised RECIST criteria.
“RECIST is simple. Using RECIST is not”
