PURPOSE/AIM

-To review the clinical features of PRES. -To discuss the pathophysiology of this condition, which remains controversial. -To provide a review of the unique imaging appearances of PRES.

CONTENT ORGANIZATION

-A description of the clinical features of PRES and discussion of the most frequently associated conditions. -A pictorial demonstration of the typical imaging features of PRES with discussion of the appropriate imaging to obtain the diagnosis. -A review of less common sites of involvement and rarer imaging manifestations of PRES. -How imaging appearances may provide assessment of the degree of reversibility of the condition. -Discussion of the proposed pathophysiological mechanism producing PRES

SUMMARY

The main teaching points: -To review the clinical features and demonstrate the imaging findings of this uncommon condition. -To ensure that it is included in the differential diagnosis of patients with vague neurological symptoms and that appropriate imaging is undertaken.
