LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1) Become familiar with evidence-based guidelines for the imaging evaluation of patients with suspected pulmonary embolism. 2) Describe methods for dose reduction in CT pulmonary angiography. 3) Principles of perfusion imaging with dual-energy CT to review its current possibilities, limitations, and expected developments, and to describe the complementary roles of morphologic and functional imaging in acute PE. 4) Prevalence and clinical significance of subsegmental PE. 5) Current concepts and controversies regarding the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism in pregnant patients.
