Scientific Papers

Presented on November 30, 2009
Presented as part of SSC12: ISP: Neuroradiology (Brain: Effects of Treatment)

Participants

Anton N. Hasso MD, Presenter: Nothing to Disclose

PURPOSE

This presentation describes the findings on imaging the post therapeutic brain following the non-surgical treatment of brain neoplasms with conventional radiation therapy, surgical radiotherapy with Gamma Knife or CyberKnife techniques, chemotherapy and the combination of chemo- and radiation therapies. Each imaging option is discussed including the most up-to-date protocols for MR imaging (MRI), MR spectroscopy (MRS) and positron emission tomography (PET).

METHOD AND MATERIALS

Following this session, the learner should be able to differentiate the expected and unique changes in the brain on MRI, MRS and PET following non-surgical therapies with irradiation, chemotherapy or their combinations.
