To show the performances of an interactive radio-anatomical atlas of the lower extremities on Apple iPhone
384 MR slices were obtained on a 1,5-T MR unit from the pelvic girdle to the extremities with the most recent suited coils on one volunteer.T1-w.i with a very high spatial resolution were obtained in all three planes. Contrast, zoom of all images were modified in order to allow a dynamic interactive mode. The Terminologia Anatomica nomenclature was used to label all the anatomical structures. 4 sets of labelled images were obtained in order to improve the visualisation of the different structures: bones and anatomical landmarks, muscles and compartments, vessels, nerves. The level of each slice was connected to a line simulating the slice on VRT images obtained from a run-off acquisition. The software was performed using the Software Development Kit (SDK) for iPhone on Mac OS 10.5.
This software provides an interactive tool to visualize all anatomical structures in all three planes. The separation of the structures in 4 categories allows a clear delineation of the different structures and a good lecture of the different labels. The interactive zoom allows the depiction of the small nerves and vessels.
This interactive atlas of the lower limbs performed for iPhone and iPod Touch users is a practical, friendly users and useful tool.
An interactive radio-anatomical atlas was performed for iPhone and iPod Touch, allowing an easy and fluid manipulation by radiologists, surgeons, rheumatologists, general practitioners and students.
