1. to discuss the spectrum of adrenal lesions that have marked increased signal on T2-weighted images. 2. To review the MRI findings of pheochromocytomas and from the others high signal lesions that improve lesion characterization. 3. To review the adrenal MR imaging arsenal with emphasis on recently incorporated techniques.
1. Discuss the MRI protocols used in adrenal imaging, including morphologic series, Chemical Shift and Dynamic Contrast-enhanced images and the value of Diffusion-Weighted sequences.
2. To review the most common MRI appearance of pheochromocitoma, including classical “bulb light” sign and others less known appearances. To present a series of lesions that mimics pheocromocitomas, including hemangiomas, hematomas, metastases and cysts, emphasizing critical points for differential diagnosis.
The main teaching points are:
1. High signal lesions on adrenal glands are not specific for pheochromocitoma. 2. The MR imaging arsenal should be used at full extension for better lesion characterization.
