Causes of right lower quadrant abdominal pain are relatively well known. However causes of, left lower quadrant pain are not very well understood. The etiologies resulting in left lower quadrant pain are diverse. The purpose of this exhibit is to expose radiologists to a series of challenging cases in order to help improve the radiologist’
Key differential diagnostic points will be highlighted in the discussion of each case. The list of cases includes but not limited to: 1). Sigmoid colon diverticulitis 2) Epiploic appendagitis 3) Omental infarcts 4) Intussusception 5) Strangulated inguinal hernia 6) Ovarian Torsion 7) Ectopic pregnancy 8) Pyosalpinx and Hydrosalpinx.
Left lower quadrant pain (LLQP) can result secondary to gastrointestinal, gynecological, or genitourinary pathologies. A systematic approach with careful review of radiographic findings in a patient with LLQP can result in appropriate triaging for management into conservative versus surgical management.
