LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1) Learn the common causes of substance abuse among physicians. 2) Understand the legal ramifications to both the physician and the physician's employer or group when substance abuse involving a physician occurs.

ABSTRACT

This portion of the program will discuss substance abuse among physicians: its causes, its management, and its legal impact on the physician, the physician's group or employer, and the patients who are exposed to the physician.
