To compare two different primary 3D approaches implemented with CAR software
Two radiologists evaluated 20 patients, chosen from our database, using two different workstations equipped with different primary 3D approaches and with CAR software. We analyzed VIATRONIX workstation equipped with V3D colon (version 1.3) and Medicsight Colon CAR 1.3 software, using a primary 3D fly-through approach, and GE Advantage Windows 4.3 workstation equipped with WIP Volume Viewer 2 software, using a primary 3D virtual dissection approach. We evaluate per patient false positive and false negative number, on both prone and supine scan and mean reporting time for each workstation
Mean false-positive findings were 12 for GE Advantage Window 4.3 workstation's analysis and 17 for VIATRONIX workstation's analysis. There were no false negative for both software. Mean reporting time was higher for VIATRONIX workstation, 8 minutes, than for GE one, 6 minutes
Virtual dissection analysis with CAR software is faster compared with a primary 3D fly-through approach. Sensitivity is however comparable
CAR software increase performances of radiologist providing a second reading of the examination. If applied to a primary 3D approach it is also time efficient
