.To review clinical scenarios of fibroid expulsion after uterine artery embolization (UFE). 2.To explain the targeted MR imaging protocol used for evaluation of uterine fibroid pre- and post UFE. 3.To illustrate the key MR imaging and pathologic features for accurate diagnosis of various conditions of fibroid expulsion with differential diagnosis.
.Uterine fibroids embolization.
.MR imaging in periprocedural work-up.
.Complications of UFE.
.Fibroid expulsion diagnosis and revelance.
.Review of reported cases.
.Illustrated clinical scenarios.
MR imaging is an accurate imaging modality for detection and localization of each individual uterine fibroid. Post-embolization MRI can help to predict the risk of expulsion as it demonstrates the migration of the fibroid and viable attachments to the uterine wall with contrast enhanced sequences. Hysteroscopic resection is reserved for symptomatic cases or infarcted fibroid with firm residual attachment to the uterine wall.
