The purpose of this exhibit is to provide the radiologist with a quick & effective way of detecting lung atelectasis -even if subtle- using an elegant hand motion.
1) Introduction: emphasizing the importance of detecting volume loss on any chest radiograph. 2) Review of four important anatomical landmarks on a normal chest radiograph: a-Position of the hemidiaphragms. b-Position of the hila. c-Position of the cardiac shadow. d-Position of the minor fissure. 3) An animated illustration of the 'V V O I' hand motion in relation to the four described anatomical landmarks. 4) Providing a few examples to illustrate the use of this fun, yet practical method.
The major teaching points of this exhibit are: 1) Emphasizing the importance of looking for volume loss on all chest radiographs. 2) Providing the viewer with a quick, enjoyable & effective way of detecting atelectasis, especially if subtle, on chest radiographs.
