We have developed the international classification of HRCT for Occupational and Environmental Respiratory Diseases (ICOERD) by international collaboration study and have proposed to supplement ILO classification. we also developed CT mage viewer (Fujitsu Co., Tokyo) that hold the system within to show reference films.

Materials used in this study were 40 selected cases from the occupational lung disease archives of University of Fukui, and other collaborating institutions. The readers including two NIOSH B-readers, experienced chest radiologists, and general physicians viewed DICOM formatted image data on the ICOERD-Viewer version 1.0, and coded the findings using the classification sheet installed within. Readings results were automatically stored in spreadsheet format and prone to statistical tests.

ICOERD Viewer ver. 1 showed user friendly interface and it support physicians to code CT films systematically according to the ICOERD classification. The reference films and educational drawings on the viewer system will support unexperienced doctors to describe findings of the occupational lung diseases. This viewer will be used in the medical screening and survellance among dust-exposed ex- and present workers in reproducible manner.
