The aim of this exhibit is:
• To review the MRI findings of diffuse lepto and pachymeningeal enhancement.
• To summarize the most common causes of diffuse meningeal enhancement.
• To illustrate different types of meningeal enhancement,including rare conditions. We shall report an unique case of meningeal enhancement secondary to chemotheraphy.
• Pathophysiology of diffuse meningeal enhancement.
• MRI findings of diffuse meningeal enhancement.
• Types of diffuse leptomeningeal and pachymeningeal enhancement, with sample cases, including rare conditions, such as: infectious meningitis, aseptic meningitis, sarcoidosis, tuberculosis, metastasic, subarachnoid hemorrhage, primary tumor (meningeal gliomatosis), pseudotumoral hemicerebellitis, cranial hypotension, hypertrophic idiopathic, secondary to chemotherapy, etc.
The viewer should accomplish:
1. Knowledge of the different types of diffuse meningeal enhancement at MRI and their most common cause.
2. The capacity to evaluate an abnormal meningeal enhancement at MRI and use the image findings to orientate the diagnosis.
