LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1) To describe optimized cross-sectional imaging techniques and protocols used to differentiate between benign and malignant adnexal pathology. 2) To identify the normal imaging features of the ovaries and adnexa. 3) To review the imaging findings of benign and malignant masses localized to the ovaries and paraovarian tissues.

ABSTRACT

With the advent of laparoscopic surgical techniques the role of imaging in the evaluation of adnexal masses has taken on increased importance. This presentation will review the US and MR imaging appearance of common adnexal masses and attempt to highlight features that will allow the imager to make a specific diagnosis. The role of imaging in evaluation patients with ovarian cancer will also be briefly discussed.
