As we move beyond the initial transition to film-less environments, can we imagine clever, innovative new uses of this technology that allow it to go beyond bringing us up to a film and paper-based baseline of performance? What are the standards that will enable deployment of these technologies so as to foster a best-of-breed competitive environment that leads to continuing innovation? These questions will be addressed in the context of existing IHE, DICOM, MIRC, RadLex and other standards.
