After reviewing this exhibit the participant will be familiar with:
1. Ureteral pathology amenable to image-guided intervention.
2. Multiple technical approaches for ureteral interventions.
Interventional radiologists are playing an increasingly important role in the diagnosis and management of various ureteral conditions. Procedures performed to treat ureteral pathologies include ureteral stenting and ureteral embolization. Long dwelling ureteral catheters such as bud catheters pose unique challenges during initial placement and periodic replacement. The objectives of this exhibit are to review the indications and techniques of established and emerging image-guided therapeutic procedures in the ureter. Various techniques for ureteral stenting in patients with normal anatomy and ileal loops, ureteral embolization for ureteral leaks and placement of nephroureteral stents are described and illustrated.
