LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1.To review the normal anatomy and normal variants with respect to CTV. 2.To review the technique and demonstrate the limitations & pitfalls of CTV. 3.To discuss the role of CTV in various pathologies & to describe their imaging appearances.

ABSTRACT

CTV is often used to investigate intracranial venous thrombosis. In our study patients were scanned from base of the skull to the vertex after infusing pump injection of iohexol. Source images, MIP images, 3D & multiplanar reconstructions were used for interpretation. Limitations include lack of detailed information of flow dynamics, artefacts & radiation. Precise knowledge of normal anatomy & variations is important for accurate interpretation. A spectrum of anatomy, variations and pathology has been reviewed. We have reviewed normal anatomy of dural venous sinuses, superficial & deep venous systems & normal variations in venous drainage which mimic pathology. Pathology cases include venous sinus thrombosis, cerebral venous thrombosis, dural sinus fistulas, sinus pericranii, arterio-venous malformations & deep venous anomalies. We demonstrate cases where CTV has been useful in surgical planning for tumor resection. This exhibit will be a learning tool to understand CTV.
