LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1) Describe the fundamental components of a flat panel x-ray system and its operation. 2) Highlight the similarities and differences between the various detector configurations (ie. direct/indirect detectors). 3) Describe the physical reasons for their improved imaging performance. 4) Discuss the potential of this new technology for "advanced" procedures such as dual energy and tomography. 5) Survey commercial offerings in DR flat-panel technology.
