PURPOSE

IHE-Japan scheduled workflow (IHE-J/SWF) integration profile is a national extension of the IHE-North America, taking into consideration the standard workflow of general radiological examination, not particularly that of NM, performed in the majority of the domestic institutes in Japan. Therefore IHE-J/SWF in NM, considered as possessing particular details of workflow, has not been sufficiently evaluated. The authors re-evaluated the several points in order to judge the applicability of IHE-J/SWF in NM in Japan.

METHOD AND MATERIALS

1. We made interviews towards 36 domestic institutes to collect pieces of workflow and determined "the standard workflow in NM in Japan".2. The NM workflow steps in Japan were extracted and compared with the CT workflow.3. Regarding the extracted details of the workflow, the applicability of the IHE-J/SWF integration profile was evaluated.

RESULTS

The NM workflow was different from the CT workflow at several points of steps as follow;1) Both injection of radiopharmaceuticals and imageacquisition should be scheduled for a single order.2) Multiple acquisitions were performed for a single order. The basic workflow, however, was identical, thus IHE-J/SWF integration profile was judged as appicable.

CONCLUSIONS

At least for the basic level practice in NM, IHE-Japan scheduled workflow integration profile was considered as applicable.
