1) To understand the significance of a thickened endometrial stripe, particularly in a post-menopausal woman with vaginal bleeding and to learn a practical approach to evaluation of patients with endometrial abnormality. 2) To appreciate the difference between adenomyosis and leiomyomata in the inhomogeneous myometrium. 3) To appreciate both the typical and problematic appearances of common benign adnexal cystic masses and how to best distinguish them from malignant masses.
