The aim of this exhibit is to present the salient features of the revised staging Endometrial Carcinoma as devised by International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) with the rationale for the changes which were introduced in January 2010. Imaging examples are used to demonstrate key points.
The full revised staging is presented with key changes highlighted including:
myometrial invasion in stage 1 disease
cervical involvement in stage 2
lymphadenopathy in stage 3
effect of peritoneal cytology on stage
Summary points of a literature review of the rationale behind these changes are included.
Histopathology and Imaging examples are used to demonstrate the key diagnostic features.
Visitors to this exhibit will learn the main changes to the staging for endometrial carcinoma .
They will understand why these changes have been introduced and will be familiar with examples of disease spread in endometrial cancer.
